With all that’s been going on lately in health policy, you would think I’d be motivated to write a lot about health care and health policy. Sadly, that is not the case. I will share with you something I texted this morning after I overheard multiple people on MSNBC and the morning talk shows pointing fingers at just about everyone in Washington DC. It’s not exactly eloquent, but here goes:
Health care is a super complicated behemoth of a black hole politically. You don’t touch it unless you are planning small steps or you know you already have the votes. Tax reform is another nightmare. That’s why these things only get done incrementally or in fits and spurts. The stars have to align perfectly for an overhaul.
