Things to Stop Doing to Yourself – #6

Each day for the month of December, I’ll be posting one of Marc and Angel’s “30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself” with a little commentary from yours truly.

5) Stop trying to hold onto the past. – You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.

I try to live my life with the rule “no regrets” because regret to me means not wanting to experience the past.  It is our experience that shapes us into who we are.  For every bad moment and failure in the past, there is a learning point and a new opportunity in the future.  Respect the past, but then get over it.  The past is the past – there’s nothing we can do about it now.  Move on – because the only person you are holding back is you.
