30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

On New Year’s Day this year, I posted a link to a blog post from Marc and Angel Hack Life titled “30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself”.  It was a hugely successful post when it hit the internets, and the post really speaks volumes about who we are and the crazy things we shouldn’t be doing to ourselves.

Our country spent a collective moment giving thanks not that long ago on Thanksgiving.  Christmas is right around the corner, and New Year’s Eve is likewise fast approaching.  In recognition of the brand new start we are given on NYE, each day in December I’ll be posting one of Marc and Angel’s tips with a little commentary from yours truly to lead us up to the end of the year.

1) Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

Life is definitely too short.  Look around at the people that you call “friends” – have you ever felt undervalued or disrespected by their actions or words?  Ever wondered why you spent so much time trying to get them to like you, trying to fit in?  Ever felt like they weren’t there when you needed them?  If so, you might need a new group of friends.  Never let anyone make you feel worthless – we do this to ourselves all too well to let others do it for us.
